ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | EFFECTIVE DATE: 4/29/25
Structural Building Components Associate (SBCA) is seeking a visionary and strategic thinker to serve in the newly created position, Associate Director, who is responsible for association marketing, communications, market development, business development, events, and education efforts. This individual will maintain an open dialogue with stakeholders, driving organizational success and overseeing brand and industry advancement. It is imperative that the individual is a strong and effective leader and manager who knows how to motivate individuals and teams for the success of the association. The Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans and company policies. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the component and construction industries or prior association management experience.
Associate Director Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct marketing, communications, market development, education, and events staff
- Increase industry and SBCA awareness through development and implementation of various strategies
- Oversee and establish goals for internal teams and direct reports, both long and short term
- Report to the Executive Director providing insights and strategic advice
- Evaluate effectiveness of SBCA programs and outreach efforts
- Maintaining positive and trust-based relations with business partners, stakeholders, and members
- Overseeing SBCA’s outward-facing operations, expense management and budgetary responsibilities
- Supervising, guiding, and delegating executives in their duties
- Ensuring SBCA’s policies and legal guidelines are clearly communicated
- Assessing, managing, and resolving problematic developments and situations
- Building and enhancing SBCA’s public profile at events, speaking engagements, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Associate Director Requirements:
- Degree in business, marketing, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Extensive experience in component industry or association management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong familiarity with component manufacturing and the broader construction industry
- Prior experience leading marketing, communications, and/or events teams
- Ability to excel in high-pressure situations
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Great decision-making skills with the ability to make difficult decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff
- Oversee the daily workflow of direct reports and subordinates
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, with beginning wage expected to be in the range of $130,000- $140,000. Work from Home
This is a Work from Home position and not centric to a specific geographic location. Successful candidate will be located within the United States and have high-quality, functional, high speed internet access. Computer and accessories will be provided by SBCA while the candidate is expected to have a desk or workspace capable of creating a successful work environment. Travel to SBCA meetings, conferences, staff meetings, and additional SBCA related purposes may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to type at a fast pace for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel with a commercial airline.
