2023 Innovative Housing Showcase on the National Mall
SBCA and the National Framers Council (NFC) is participating in the 2023 Innovative Housing Showcase (IHS) hosted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). This event is a unique and high-profile opportunity for our industry to showcase the capability of our industry to a broad audience of regulators, policymakers, builders, and the public. In 2022, over 7500 people walked through the two-story structure we framed in under nine hours.
This year, SBCA is partnering with Habitat for Humanity-Piedmont. The structure constructed on the National Mall for IHS will be donated to Habitat to build two homes for deserving families in central Virginia. The structure built on the National Mall will be a two-story version (two houses, stacked on top of each other) of the following standard Habitat plan:
We are asking our membership to participate in this project, either through in-kind contributions of building materials (within delivery radius of Washington, DC) or financial contributions to offset material costs. Financial contributions can be made in any amount online here, and the list of requested building materials are as follows:
