84 Lumber Donates $50K to Boy Scouts of America

Since 1989, 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, has held a tradition of supporting the Boy Scouts of America Westmoreland-Fayette Council. Although the annual Joe Hardy/84 Lumber Boy Scouts Golf Invitational was cancelled this year, the company still decided to give back through a generous donation of $50,000.

“The Westmoreland/Fayette Council of the BSA is thankful for its relationship with 84 Lumber,” said Council President Michael B. Delmar. “The support of 84 Lumber has allowed us to bring high value programs to thousands of young men and women for many years. In this difficult year, 84 Lumber’s generosity stands above and beyond anything anticipated and will allow our Council to continue its mission of serving youth.”

In addition to the Westmoreland-Fayette Council, 84 Lumber also supports the Boy Scouts across the country. Through 84 Lumber’s Building Hope program, the company donates materials to help with Eagle Scout service projects, which serve local communities and are meant to last for many generations.

“When my father co-started the 84 Lumber Boy Scouts event 31 years ago, he had no idea that it would continue into 2020 and have such a large impact on the Boy Scouts community, both locally and nationally,” said 84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy Knox. “It’s truly an honor to continue supporting this cause and watch these scouts do incredible things in our community.”
