Hancock Lumber Wins 8th Consecutive 'Best Employer' Award

Hancock Lumber, the Casco, Maine,-based pro dealer and lumber producer, has been named as a “Best Place to Work in Maine” for the eighth-consecutive year.

The program is a third-party administered survey and awards program dedicated to identifying and recognizing the state’s best employers and providing organizations with valuable employee feedback. 

Hancock Lumber said it is proud to average a 95% participation rate annually, representing each employees’ voice and honest feedback.  

In a blog post on its website, the dealer said “Team Team Hancock’s commitment to our best place to work in Maine process directly supports our employee-centric culture and mission to have a highly engaged team and respectful work environment where every employee leads and has a voice.”

Hancock Lumber’s company culture includes shared leadership and its 600 employees’ commitment to maintaining maximum workplace health and safety. The company said its culture allowed it to continue working over the last 17 months during some of the most demanding market conditions Hancock Lumber has ever seen.

Despite a global pandemic and profound market disruptors, Hancock’s teams came to work every day staying clean, staying spaced, and staying strong, the company said. This includes its ability to continue producing eastern white pine, assembling trusses, delivering building materials, and servicing customers.

“As a business, we were fortunate that we were allowed to stay open, but most importantly we are thankful that our team stood up and took the challenge head-on—we did indeed ‘work through it together',” Hancock Lumber said.

Hancock Lumber operates more than 20 locations in Maine and New Hampshire, including lumberyards, kitchen design centers, sawmill operations, and its Mainely Trusses business.
