The SBCA Open Quarterly Meeting (OQM) in Boston, Massachusetts, July 25-27, will look and feel different to anyone who has attended in the past few years.
One big change is attendees will have the opportunity to attend Boston Red Sox games on Monday and Tuesday nights. If you bought tickets for either night but no longer need them, or you are in need of additional tickets, please let Ali Saladin (224.236.3841) know as soon as possible to help facilitate a ticket exchange.
Another big change is the standing committees will not hold meetings during the OQM. Instead, attendees will be focused on sharing ideas and best practices during topic-focused roundtables similar to the event held at BCMC each year. In addition, attendees will be given several opportunities to weigh in on SBCA activities, committees, and strike forces to help SBCA prepare for the next strategic planning process starting in the fall.
In addition, Forest Economic Advisors (FEA) will be facilitating an education session on both visual and MSR graded lumber. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about production capacity in North America and what to expect over the coming year.
Finally, this promises to be one of the most well attended OQMs in several years. Given several events going on downtown, hotel rooms are both expensive and hard to find. If your travel plans change and you don’t need as many room nights as you originally booked, please let Ali know immediately so she can help transfer those rooms to others that need them.
