SBCA is making changes to its staff with both new hires and position changes as it develops and grows as a team. The SBCA team is so talented that it is fortunate to have a great candidate in-house to fill the open role of Director of Marketing. SBCA is pleased to announce Sean Shields will be taking this role.
Sean has been involved with SBCA for 20 years, serving as its Director of Communications since 2011. He came to SBCA with a background of working in political communications with various state legislatures, and has since developed a deep understanding of offsite manufacturing, fire safety, building codes, and residential fall protection. In addition to his communication skillset, Sean has the interpersonal, analysis, and management skills to make the transition from communications to marketing a smooth one.
In Sean’s new role as Director of Marketing, he will focus on both internal and external marketing efforts, to both SBCA’s membership and to the broader construction industry. This new role will put Sean more in the forefront of our marketing and development efforts, allowing us to connect better to those in and related to the industry, while promoting the benefits and capabilities of components.
Over two decades, Sean has worked with many people inside and outside the industry and helped develop the voice of SBCA. “I’ve worked with Sean for several years and he has been a key player in his communications role with SBCA, but we are excited to see him shift into marketing and market development, as he continues to help us in our association’s efforts with outreach, advocacy, and visibility in the industry,” says Jess Lohse, SBCA’s Executive Director. “It is an exciting time for SBCA as we continue to develop and grow as a staff and an association, and we are grateful to have Sean be a part of that.”
Sean earned a BA in Political Science and Public Relations from Carthage College, and a Masters in Public Affairs from The LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT-Austin. Sean currently resides in Madison, WI with his wife and two children.
