Javan Yoder

Javan Yoder is a Chapter Representative of the SBCA Board of Directors and has been involved in the association since 1997. In addition to his seat on the Board, Javan serves on SBCA’s BCMC Committee as the Exhibit Chair and on SBCA’s Safety Committee.

The relationships that Javan has developed throughout the years and the encouragement he has of many colleagues are his favorite parts of SBCA. As a leader of the SBCA, his goal is to help other members and non-members to all speak in one voice. When it comes to the liabilities and challenges that the industry faces as a whole, Javan feels it is important to be in unison on how this industry is presented to the world.

Like others, Javan grew up in the industry, and more specifically, in the truss plant. His dad, Abner Yoder, started Stark Truss in 1963, the year before Javan was born. So, it really was his second, if not his first, home. Over the years, he has swept floors, stomped gables, ran a press, cut on the saw, caught cords and webs, operated forklifts, managed plants, and designed trusses – so needless to say that he knows the ins and outs of the truss industry. Javan has been with Stark Truss since 1982 and is the Executive Vice President, continuing with the family business. To this day, his favorite part of his job is going to jobsites and figuring out difficult designs, matching an existing building, or figuring out a solution to a problem.

In addition to his involvement with SBCA, Javan is also actively involved with his local BIA as the Vice President and incoming President. He believes it is important to foster relationships with customers through these outlets and has some wonderful friendships because of it.

Javan graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in 1987 and also attended Akron University. Beyond work and his association involvement, Javan enjoys woodworking in his shop, homesteading, spending time with his family and friends, and driving as fast as his wife, Shannon, will allow him.
