Larry Dix II

Larry Dix II is the current President-Elect/Treasurer of the Structural Building Components Association (SBCA); this year marks his seventh year with the association. In addition to his current role, Larry also holds seats on the SBCA Board of Directors, SBCA Executive Committee, and Governance Committee, and is the chair of the Finance Committee and Membership Committee. As a leader and member of SBCA, Larry’s goal is to provide as much value to membership as possible through all SBCA has to offer to its members and this industry.

There are many great aspects to the association, but some of Larry’s favorite parts of it are the Open Quarterly Meetings (OQMs), the relationships he’s built, and the knowledge he’s gained. SBCA’s in-person events are a fantastic way for those within the industry to connect in person, share stories and struggles, and learn from one another – that is what Larry finds most rewarding. Larry has led a successful career thus far through hard work, perseverance, dedication, and passion. As such, he wanted to be a part of something bigger and give back to the industry that has given him so much over the years, which is why he first joined SBCA seven years ago. With such passion and drive, Larry believes that it’s always best to “Do What’s Right”; this sentiment is important to both himself and his employees, as a reminder to take the long haul and do the work, not take the shortcut.

”It is a pleasure to work with Larry as a fellow officer and member of the SBCA Executive Committee and Board of Directors,” says Jeff Taake, SBCA President. “His no-nonsense approach helps us navigate tough decisions with calmness and common sense. He’s an asset to our leadership and the association.”

“Larry is a hard worker and a man of integrity, which shows in his efforts with SBCA and everything he does,” says Jess Lohse, SBCA’s Executive Director. “Larry does not seek the easy way out, but rather prefers to do the work to ensure things are being done right. He is a great person to have on our leadership team and in the industry.”

Larry and his wife of over 40 years reside in Virginia, where he is the President of Apex Truss, a company he started in 2000 after purchasing a local truss plant that had closed. In addition to running Apex Truss, Larry has started his own podcast called, “Born or Made”. Outside of work and the association, Larry enjoys the world of cars; he is currently racing in Porsche GT3 Cups in the Historic Sports Racing series. In addition to cars and work, Larry has many exciting projects and passions including fitness, nutrition, and reading. You can often find him on his farm raising cattle, writing, or spending time with his wife, family, and eight grandchildren. Larry can be reached at info@sbcacomponents.com.
