Steve Strom

Steve Strom is a Chapter Representative of the SBCA Board of Directors and has been involved in the association since 2016. Steve has previously served on SBCA’s Advocacy Committee and Membership Committee. Steve’s participation in SBCA stems from his interest in finding an organization that could help protect the industry; he discovered that SBCA lobbied for the truss industry and provided jobsite packages, leading to his initial involvement eight years ago.

The world of structural building components possesses many great things, but Steve’s favorite part of the industry is that trusses and customers are always changing. His favorite part of SBCA is the people and everything he has learned from them. His main goal as a leader of SBCA has been to strengthen the association so that the industry has a voice when outside influences are trying to change the industry through regulations or legislation.

Steve has been in the industry for 37 years and has entered his 35th year with The Truss Company in Eugene, Oregon, as its VP of Oregon Operations. Over the years, he has held numerous roles in the industry, having started as a boom truck operator, then sawyer, designer, equipment repair, truss repair, sales/design manager, and general manager (GM). As VP of Oregon Operations, Steve’s primary responsibilities are to mentor GMs, look for places where they can be more efficient, and work on other specials projects as needed.

With his impressive tenure in the field, Steve is most proud of the help he has been able to provide to many people through the years. He has witnessed many of them flourish in the industry and watched others make great accomplishments outside of it. Beyond work and SBCA, Steve enjoys golfing, camping, softball, motorcycles, and spending time with his family, eight of which are grandchildren ranging in age from two years old to twenty-two years old.
