As SBCA members gear up for the upcoming SBCA Legislative Fly-In in Washington, D.C., the SBCA Advocacy Committee is calling for what might be the most powerful tool our industry can bring to Capitol Hill: member stories.
While we continue to navigate the ripple effects of shifting immigration policies and fluctuating tariffs, the real consequences are playing out on jobsites, in manufacturing plants, and across the country in the lives of hard-working people in our industry. We would like to put names—real or anonymous—and experiences to these changes. That’s where you come in.
Across the country, component manufacturers, framers, and builders are all seeing the impact. Some jobsites have been forced to slow down or halt work altogether due to sudden labor shortages or disruptive visitors. Others are reporting increased stress and anxiety among workers—many of whom feel unsafe, even when fully authorized to work.
Whether it be about immigration, tariffs, or anything else you’re experiencing in your daily operations, these stories matter. They show how policy decisions echo far beyond Washington. When we meet with lawmakers, it’s these personal, tangible examples that cut through the noise and enable us to get through to decision-makers. We need to show them that behind every policy is a person, a jobsite, a business navigating these challenging and uncertain times.
If you have a story to share—yours, your customers’, your crews’—we want to hear it. Stories can be completely anonymous. What matters most is that they’re real.
Help us help policymakers see what’s happening on the ground. We must speak with one voice—and make sure it’s heard.
To submit your story, please fill out the form below. Again, this is completely voluntary and can be fully anonymous – just complete what you are comfortable sharing. We thank you for your support and willingness to share what you’re experiencing!
