Corey Lane

The most recent addition to SBCA’s staff is Corey Lane, in the newly created position of Safety Coordinator. In this role, Corey will focus on developing industry specific safety information and aid members with safety related materials. Corey is excited to be in a role where he can help more effectively in safety and to also help others foster the ideals of good safety culture and practices.

Having experience in the field doing hard and skilled labor jobs most of his career, Corey understands that some days can be tough, there can be hazardous situations, and people can get hurt because safety was put on the back burner. As such, he is passionate about safety and has the utmost respect for the employees out there doing the work. Corey believes that everyone should be able to go home to their loved ones each day in the same way they came in. As Safety Coordinator, Corey aims to have a positive influence on the safety programs in place, as well as aid in the addition of new initiatives that will be industry specific, all in the name of safety.

“Bringing Corey onto the team is exciting, and SBCA is fortunate to have someone with such a robust safety background focused on our efforts,” says Molly Butz, SBCA Managing Director. “Corey's approach is steadfast and detail-oriented and it's already clear how passionate he is about safety. I look forward to the value he'll bring to SBCA's membership through his research and teaching skills; our safety resources are going to multiply!”

With a background that includes roles such as heavy equipment operator and plant operator at a strip mine, a journeyman carpenter, in addition to gained experience in woodworking, metal framing, and scaffolding in industrial settings, and also warehousing, Corey brings great knowledge and understanding of working onsite. Each role presented their own safety challenges and provided Corey with the skills to recognize hazards and the ability to adopt safe work practices. The building components industry is fascinating and new to Corey, so he is excited to become more familiar with the trade and to be an asset for members in the realm of safety.

Outside of work, Corey enjoys watching NHL and NFL, of which his favorites are the Penguins and the Steelers. He also likes to exercise, play golf, and to go on walks with his full house of girls: his wife, Courtney, their two daughters, and their two dogs, Millie and Baylee.

Corey earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety from Eastern Kentucky University; he is a certified Graduate Safety Practitioner from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals through the completion of the EKU safety program, and is also OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certified.
