Joe Halteman

Joe Halteman is a member of the SBCA Board of Directors, BCMC Committee, and LaunchPad. Joe has been involved with SBCA since 2011, when he first joined the industry. He started getting more directly involved with SBCA in 2018, when he was invited to join the Emerging Leaders (now LaunchPad); he jumped at this opportunity to be part of this group to work with so many fantastic members and to work on exciting projects.

Joe’s favorite part of the industry are the people that he gets to work with and the problems that he gets to solve with them. He enjoys discovering the best solutions for them, helping put those solutions into place, and seeing how that makes a real-world difference. Joe also enjoys taking an active role in solving housing issues in North America and across the world. His favorite part of SBCA is getting to meet with a lot of those same people several times a year at Open Quarterly Meetings (OQMs). Joe believes OQMs are an invaluable experience for anyone in the industry, and provide people with the chance to talk to the brightest minds in the industry, work on making the industry better, safer, and more efficient for everyone involved.

As an SBCA board member, Joe’s goal is to grow the market for components throughout North America and the world. “Wall panels and floor trusses have seen a lot of growth over the last few years, and I would like to see that continue,” says Joe.

Joe is his family’s third generation in this industry; as a kid, Joe remembers his dad and grandpa talking about trusses and equipment. To this day, he is still working with some of those same customers or their children who have taken over the family’s operations. Joe has been with Wood Tech Systems for 13 years, having started off in sales, and eventually moving into his current role of President. Since Wood Tech Systems is a smaller company, Joe wears many hats as president, doing work from IT and marketing to HR and sales, which he finds both rewarding and challenging, as they work towards providing the best solutions for building.

Outside of work, Joe (otherwise known as “World’s Best Dad” according to a mug he has) enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and three sons, in addition to hiking, photography, traveling, and Formula 1 racing. Joe can be reached at info@sbcacomponents.com.
