Ken Kucera
Ken Kucera is an At-Large Representative of the SBCA Board of Directors. He has been involved with SBCA since 2020 and believes that connecting to others in the industry is very important.
For Ken, his favorite parts of the industry are the members and the tremendous work ethic and care they possess for their customers, homeowners, and the industry altogether. “It is a challenging industry with daily surprises,” says Ken. “The members represent an industry that ‘figures it out’ and as we say at 84 Lumber, are ‘grinders’.” He appreciates how focused SBCA is on the future of the industry, its focus on being relevant and setting the agenda, promoting panel and component adoption, and providing programs for its members, such as Digital QC. As Ken states, “we are ‘future-proofing’ the association.”
As a member of the SBCA Board of Directors, Ken’s goals are to increase engagement within the association and to get other 84 Lumber associates involved in SBCA. It is important to Ken to support and focus on succession planning and the development of training programs to help new associates at their company grow and drive the industry forward into the future.
Ken earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Cleveland State University and upon graduating, joined 84 Lumber in their Installed Sales program. In time, he became the Vice President of Installed Sales, and in 2019, was asked to get directly involved in component manufacturing. Since 2019, Ken has held the role of Vice President of Installed Sales and Manufacturing. In this role, he focuses on the associates by providing support to those on the front-line, creating a supportive environment, and ensuring they have the tools needed to be successful, develop the business, and drive returns. Having been with 84 Lumber for over twenty years, Ken is most proud when he sees associates, that came to 84 Lumber at the entry level, hitting big milestones in their lives and careers, whether that’s a promotion, marriage, homeownership, or starting a family – it is very rewarding to see that progress.
Outside of work and SBCA, Ken spends as much time as possible with his family; they enjoy spending time at the pool, biking, hiking, or making dinner together. Ken can be reached at info@sbcacomponents.com. .
