Visitors to the National Mall this past weekend had a unique opportunity to see the latest housing innovations firsthand through the third annual Innovative Housing Showcase, presented by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and NAHB, and learn more about how these innovations can support efforts to improve housing affordability and sustainability.
“Throughout the weekend, leaders and advocates across the housing industry will have a chance to really share new ideas — innovative ideas — to collaborate, and the American people will have an opportunity to experience some of the latest innovative designs up close,” Sec. Marcia L. Fudge noted in her opening remarks to help kick off the event.
More than two dozen exhibitors showcased innovative building technologies — including full-size prototype homes — to address housing affordability and disaster relief challenges, create high-performance, sustainable homes, and provide attainable solutions to both new and existing buildings.
“We are honored to be partnering with the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the third year to highlight the best residential construction has to offer,” NAHB Chairman Alicia Huey stated in her opening remarks. “The technologies here are working to make homes more attainable, more resilient, more accessible and more efficient.”
Exhibitors counted a total of more than 20,000 visits throughout the weekend as the public toured the displays across the Mall. See more from the event in the video below.
