Shawn Overholtzer
Shawn Overholtzer is an At-Large Representative of the SBCA Board of Directors. Additionally, he holds seats on both the Membership Committee and Marketing Committee. Shawn has been involved with SBCA since the early 1990s, when he was first introduced via Kenny Cloyd, Earl Latham, and the CalESCA group, eventually later getting more involved with the chapter, national association, and BCMC. He has also served as the president of the CalSBCA Chapter.
Shawn enjoys learning about new approaches to solving longstanding industry problems and is particularly excited about how AI technology will transform the industry. Shawn’s favorite part of SBCA is meeting new people in the industry, understanding their approach, and helping to drive change for the better. As a member of the Board, his goals include creating an industry association for component manufacturers of all sizes, expanding the association to encompass more western state component manufacturers, and driving positive change for the industry.
From his first introduction into the industry through his father, who was a builder and purchased a truss plant, Shawn has been involved on both the construction operation and manufacturing side of the business. He and his father sold the business to California TrusFrame in 2009, and in 2010, Shawn went to work for Simpson Strong-Tie for nine years. After this time, he returned to California TrusFrame to oversee operations, with California TrusFrame eventually being acquired by BFS a few years later. Currently, Shawn is the SVP Components at Builders FirstSource, where he’s been for three years now. In this position, Shawn oversees operations for both roof and floor components, as well as wall panels for the West and Central divisions of Builders FirstSource.
Shawn earned a BS in Environmental Design from San Diego State University, and he holds certifications in HBS Management Essentials, in addition to a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. Outside of work and SBCA, Shawn enjoys traveling, spending time with family, golfing, fishing, and hunting. Shawn can be reached at info@sbcacomponents.com.
